Obituary of Kenneth Harrison
After a wonderful fulfilling 90 years, Ken Harrison passed away peacefully at the Ottawa Heart Institute after a brief illness. He spent his last hours surrounded by family, exchanging loving words and sharing beautiful memories. Ken was a well-respected retired Ottawa firefighter who dedicated 35 years on the job. Ken lived an incredible life with his late wife Greta Harrison who passed in June 2020. Ken and Greta spent almost 67 years together and it was apparent in all Ken did, that Greta was the most cherished wife he could have been blessed with. They created a beautiful life and family together and will be missed dearly by his daughters Heather (Cameron McGregor) and Brenda (John Odam). Cherished Popa to Ashlee (Jamie Ferguson), Cameron (Megan), and Bradley. Great-Grandfather to Hudson, Charlotte, Addison and Haven. Predeceased by his parents John and Mary and brothers Gordon and Cliff. Ken loved all sports but had a particular passion for hockey. Watching his son in law, grandsons and great grandson play the sport brought him much joy. The time spent in Florida was a tradition he looked forward to every year. Ken and Greta’s life living on the lake held so many great memories, Ken took such pride in his "perfect lawn” and gardens. A trip to the casino became the highlight in his later years. Ken lived a fulfilling life and cherished his family and the simple things of every day living. His heart was broken upon the loss of Greta, he is now at peace, and we believe they are together once again.
A Funeral Service for Ken will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at Pinecrest Remembrance Chapel, 2500 Baseline Road followed by a Celebration of Life for both Ken and Greta from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. We hope you will join us in celebrating two lives well lived. In lieu of flowers, donations to the University of Ottawa Heart Institute would be appreciated.
My deepest sympathies to his family and friends. I never worked with him but have heard many people speak well of him.
