SENT ON BEHALF OF POPPY’S PATH ORGANIZING COMMITTEE
Dear Ottawa Fire Family,
We would like to invite you all to the inaugural Poppy's Path Fundraiser Gala at the Brookstreet Hotel on February 22, 2025.
We are raising funds and awareness to support BPAN research, treatment, and the Roy-Smith family. (Peter Roy Smith is a firefighter on D Platoon, as well as our Honour Guard Commander.)
Poppy is a beautiful child with tons of energy and a giant smile. Kait and Pete recognized all within her first year that she wasn’t developing properly and went to work advocating to Poppy’s doctors that she needed more testing and therapy. Poppy was diagnosed with an extremely rare disease called BPAN - Beta-Propeller Protein-Associated Neurodegeneration. It is a neurodegenerative genetic condition that results in developmental delays, seizures, and a number of other medical complexities. Because of its rarity, 2-3 per million, there is very little funding and limited resources available to Poppy in Canada.
Poppy's Path Fundraiser Gala will be a formal attire event with dinner, a silent auction, raffle and dancing. There will be a live band for your entertainment. Ottawa Fire's very own Dirt Road will be performing.
Attached is the poster with all of the details for the night and the QR code to buy tickets. A block of hotel rooms will be available at a corporate rate for the night at the Brookstreet. Any questions or other requests (e.g. seating requests, dietary, donations) please contact poppyspath@gmail.com
Please come out and join us for a great night to support a great cause.
