It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Retired Platoon Chief Lyle Fraser – Ottawa Fire Services. He passed away peacefully on December 27, 2024, at the age of 73 with his wife, Darlene Morris Fraser, by his side. Lyle was a cherished stepfather to Meghan (Brandon MacKechnie), and grandfather to Reese and Louisa MacKechnie. He was predeceased by his parents George Fraser and Hazel Ormond. Left to mourn him is his beloved brother Glen Fraser (Joan Denault) and Barbara Fraser (late brother Bill Fraser).

Lyle was the proud uncle of Shannon Fraser (Carlo Galli), great-niece Katherine and great-nephew Liam, Greg Fraser and great-niece Rachel. He will be sadly missed by sister-in-law Colleen (Garrett Donovan), niece and nephew Eve and Henry Donovan.

Lyle served on the Ottawa Fire Services with courage, bravery and honour and will be deeply missed by his many OFS brothers with whom he proudly served for 37 years. Lyle loved to hop on his Harley Davidson and end up wherever the wind took him. He loved to ride to the States to gather with his cousins, and to visit the many, many friends he made there over the years. He was especially fond of spending vacations in Flagler Beach, FL. No matter where Lyle was, he would never miss an episode of his favourite show, “Jeopardy”! Lyle had a passion for any kind of music, and the sentimental songs would often bring tears to his eyes. He also had the capability of keeping his friends entertained with his legendary storytelling.

Lyle was a devoted husband and loved spending time with family and gathering with his many Quyon friends. He was known and loved by many.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at 2:00 pm at the Quyon Legion (26 St. John Street). All are welcome to come and have a drink and share stories and memories of Lyle.
